Shapeways Ring



When I learned I was going to be designing a ring that I was going to be able to print I was beyond ecstatic. I wanted the architecture I chose as inspiration for the piece to have significance to me. The Dorton Arena was one of the first buildings to come to mind. With this in mind, I knew I wanted the design to cover the entire finger. I first drew the basic shape I wanted the ring to be. Then, knowing that I wanted there to be a lot of negative space, I drew the area that I wanted to be hollow. To turn the design into a surface I extruded all the shapes and to hollowed out the shapes by differencing it.



To turn the flat shape rounded like the shape of a ring, I created a circle the size of my finger and used the flow along curve command.



I felt very successful when I finished my ring. Not only was it a simple design, but I was able to exactly replicate what I taught out to make. The most exciting part, however, was receiving my ring in the mail and getting to try it on.

Rubber Ducky is when we took a drastic step into Rhino, realizing we had only touched the surface of what it could do. The process began by creating two spheres, one for the body, and one for the head. After everything had been manipulated we had to separate the beak from the head by drawing a curve and then splitting the surface From there we altered the rebuild command to add more iso curves, then turning on the control points we manipulated everything from the tail to the beak of the duck. After everything had been manipulated we had to separate the beak from the head by drawing a curve and then splitting the surface. While the head was touching the beak it wasn't connected, however. To connect the two surfaces we drew two lines parallel to each other, split the surfaces, and deleted the middle section. Vinyl Tattoo

For the Vinyl Project I began by sketching out ideas. I knew I wanted to place the design on a friends Bible, which meant I wanted it to have significance to her. I wanted the design to reflect what I saw in her and feature some things that she loves. To the left you will see my sketches I drew as inspiration for my project the top picture features what was going to be displayed on the front of the Bible and the bottom is the back. Everything in the design has significance and meaning. I wanted the tree and roots to represent the strength and growth of my friend.  The sunflowers, her favorite flowers, each represent something different. The three on the front represent the trinity, and the one on the back represents my friend. I was beyond ecstatic to make this for my friend.
